It wouldn’t be the end of summer without out a concert by fellow Long Islander Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer band. On Wednesday August 26, Buffett and his school of parrots swam up to the outside amphitheater for the “Summerszcool” tour. By 4:45 the main lot to the theater was filled up with Rv’s flying jolly Rogers, cars with shark fins, loud Hawaiian shirts and plenty of frozen concoctions. Only a Buffett concert can amass more tailgating then a Giant’s game. Overhead flew a Landshark Beer banner as people wasted away in their temporary margaritaville. It was clear the party had started as early as 9 am for some people, for others it was 5 o’clock somewhere.
The concert started in typical Buffett fashion with Poindexter’s HOT HOT HOT warming up the crowd as people practiced shooting hoops and catching shirts slingshot from the stage.
Jimmy played all of our favorites, Fins, Margaritaville, One Particular Harbor, Cheeseburger in Paradise as well as an encore of He went to Paris. Two covers of Twist and Shout and Yellow Submarine were a real surprise and had sold out crowd jumping in their seats.
